ทอน

v. 1. to give the change (money);

2. to cut, to break up, to reduce.

เงินทอน (the amount returned), ทอนเงิน (to return the change (as after a purchase)).

คุณยังไม่ได้ทอนเงินให้ฉัน You haven't given me my change.

เขาทอนเงินดิฉันขาด He gave me short change. รายจ่ายถูกทอนลงมาเสียหนึ่งในสาม Expenditure was reduced by one third. เศษส่วนเหล่านี้จะต้องทอนลงมาให้มีส่วนเท่ากันก่อนจะบวกลบได้ The fractions must be reduced to a common denominator before addition or subtraction.
